Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR Therapy was founded by Dr. Francine Shapiro in the early 1990s. To this day, it is one of the most researched and effective treatments for trauma. EMDR allows individuals to reprocess painful and traumatic memories using bilateral stimulation (tapping, lights or sounds) in a safe and calm environment. The efficacy of this therapy is particularly well-demonstrated with trauma, however it can be a great pathway to healing for those who feel stuck due to any distressing experience.
